THE INTERFAITH DIFFERENCE
space

Most working poor families are faced
with returning to negative, unstable environments when facing homelessness. Many will apply for subsidized housing for temporary support. However, it is usually not “temporary,” as most families live in subsidized housing for an average of 5 years. Interfaith provides homeless families rent-free, transitional housing as an alternative.

While we do not charge rent, we do require that our families participate in empowering programs such as career development training, weekly financial coaching sessions, and life skills
training. As a result, graduates save
an average of $2800 and reduce an average of $3800 in debt upon exiting
the program.

Our results are undeniable.
• Currently, 81% of all incoming
   families exit with full-time
   employment and permanent housing.
• Twelve months after graduation,
   91% of our families maintain
   employment and housing.
• 72% of our graduates live without
the aid of rent subsidies, saving
   Dallas tax-payers approximately $8
   million for each annual graduating
   class.
